North Etiwanda Preserve Trail

Gary decided to surprise me with a drive "down the hill" to have lunch at Panera Bread. It is a bakery-cafe and since I love everything carbs it was perfect!
Half of G's sandwich & half of mine :)
After lunch G wanted to drive around the foothills and look for a nice place to take photos of birds or scenery or whatever! I noticed a sign that said Etiwanda Preserve and since neither one of us had heard of it, we decided to check it out! Here is our spontaneous 3 mile hike as told by the iPhone :)

mile 0 of ?? approx. 2100 feet

must have photo of photographer
Information Kiosk
made it to mile 1 :)
early settler ruins (well at least the fireplace)
looking west
aaah! civilization at the panoramic viewpoint!
looking south on a hazy {smoggy} day approx. 2700 ft
mile 3
A fun & spontaneous day trip it turned out to be!

If you want more info about the trail check our the website: North Etiwanda Preserve Trail

{Rainy} Beach Day

Getting out of town for the day for a trip to the beach. Our original plan was to go to JackSHRIMP for lunch and then head into LA for the Getty Museum & the Griffith Observatory. Our original, original plan was to go to Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant but when Brandin heard we were going down the hill for the day he invited us to go with he & Kayla to Newport. But...JackSHRIMP didn't open till 5pm and the museum closed at 5 so we decided to spend the day at the beach and wait for the restaurant to open. That led us to BJ's Pizza where I taste tested 8 different beers {yum}. Then off to the rainy but beautiful beach...and the following adventures...A jump for joy that ended with a sprained ankle for Kayla :( a trip to the bank, Starbucks, {funny signs} Walgreen's for pain meds & an ace bandage, BevMo! for drinks, Sprinkles for cupcakes and JackSHRIMP for dinner!

You're welcome for all of the useful links I have included in this post :) and to end here is the "Jump for Joy" that caused Kayla's sprained ankle...

the end.

Spontaneous Beach Trip

We got a text from Kayla saying, "bonfire tonight at the beach?:) leaving around 5" I just happened to have the night off work so we said yes. First a stop at The Hat for some grub. Yum. Quick freeway drive to Huntington Beach where M. Steele happily takes our $15 to enter the state park. Found a pit with hot embers...we have FIRE! Run to the water to see if it's warm enough for skinny dipping (luckily it's not!). It's already a Full Moon anyway! The camera reflects the moisture in the air so it looks like it's snowing at the beach. Kayla's middle name should be JOY. Lions, "Tig-ons", & Bears Oh My! I only had one drink, really :). Cold Feet. Hot Fire. Smoky Kisses. And of course, S'MORES!

...and here is the story as told by the camera :)

The End. A wonderful night.

I used PSP Photo X2 - Time Machine/Cross Process filter on all of the photos :)

Great News

...that we hope gets better! The amazing boyfriend had an interview today that went VERY well. Hoping to hear the words, "You got the job, when can you start?" by early next week!! Lots of changes in store for the future...

Dinner at Linko to celebrate the "almost got the job" news

Later... because this is a well paying job, he says..

"I need to look for exemptions"

She says...

"Is that some sort of lame marriage proposal??"

Lucille's & Victoria Gardens

We had already used our gift card from Brandin & Kayla to go to Lucille's with Chad & Gabi last week, but B & K invited us to go again! This time we didn't over-indulge in the goodness! After dinner we strolled through Victoria Gardens. I bought some really cute cupcake cookie cutters at Crate & Barrel :) and here is a funny sign I saw in the Hollister store. Good times!

Lucille's & Black Swan

Went to Lucille's with Chad & Gabi tonight and ate way too much! After dinner we saw Black Swan. Very strange and interesting movie. Natalie Portman was amazing.

Yard House

Went to the Yard House for lunch today :) Yummy southern fried chicken breast for me & seared ahi steak sandwich for him!

Excuse me...you have a cactus growing out of your head...

Why is it that I cannot see any object other than your face when I am taking a picture...and later when I look at it, I'm surprised by the "extra" scenery.
